Hidden Treasures in Ohio's Court of Common Pleas

Allen County Public Library

Common pleas records, found in the current Clerk of Courts office, include cases of law and equity (partitions, divorces) as well as criminal matters and even naturalizations. Dating from statehood in 1803, common pleas includes almost every type of civil action up to 1852 when probate court was formed in Ohio. Journey of the Seabird Rose Family and Their Ohio Legacy

The story of the Seabird Rose family and their descendants, a pioneering families who forged new paths. Their journey from Montgomery County, Virginia, to Gallia County, Ohio, and ultimately settling in Wood County, Ohio. Born in 1799, Seabird, alongside his wife Amy Anna Lambert, raised a sizeable family of 10 children. Through the lens of their son, Pleasant Rose, the lives of subsequent generations are traced.
